Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) and Ridley Scott (Alien) are behind two US miniseries coming this summer

While traditionally a time when US television goes quiet, the summer months are a lot more active these days. Two interesting new miniseries are arriving Stateside in the next few months, the trailers for which you can watch below: Screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects) was once attached to write a movie version of The Prisoner, but when that project fell through he clearly fed his ideas into a miniseries for NBC. Persons Unknown revolves around a group of strangers who find themselves trapped in a strange ghost town. It premieres on 7 June. Over on cable channel Starz, Pillars Of The Earth is a $40 million eight-part miniseries, based on the best-selling book by Ken Follet about the building of a cathedral in Kingsbridge, England. The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) and stars Rufus Sewell, Matthew Macfadyen, Hayley Atwell, Donald Sutherland, Sarah Parish and Ian McShane. It will premiere in July.
