Bridget Jones: 5 Reasons Helen Fielding Was Right To Kill Off Mr. Darcy In New Book

Bridget Jones1 First of all, I must say how much I loved and connected with the Bridget Jones character from the books. The movies were a bit camp, but fun, and easy to fall into. I must confess that I love both Colin Firth and Mr. Darcy. When I heard that Mr. D. was getting killed off in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, I was shocked and saddened...but then, after contemplating it, realized that she might be right; I'll have to read the book to be absolutely certain! I live in Los Angeles; I'm aware that portions of the book have been excerpted in Britain, but I've not read any of them. However, I know, from the press releases, that Bridget is now 51, with 2 children, widowed, and back on the dating scene, armed with modern technology, and lusting after some hot, young thing. Helen Fielding was reported as saying that she killed off Darcy because her view in life changed after her father died, when she was 24, and that real life doesn't always have happy endings. Now, I'm sure that her recent divorce was no inspiration for the book whatsoever! We will be able to decide for ourselves, whether the decision to kill him off was the best for the character/story, this week. Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is being released this Thursday, 10th October in UK, and 15th October in the US. Here are my 5 reasons why she could have been right...
