10 Incredible Novels That Changed The Way We Interact

Before the Age of iPhone, widely-held beliefs and universal viewpoints didn't sway as often as they might with a global cache of information at one's fingertips. It took something substantial to upset the balance of a stubborn notion - a battle, an election, a feat of human achievement in one field or another. Sometimes, though, it just took a book. Viewpoints on religion, war, racism, government, and even holiday traditions were at one point or another changed irrevocably by a single novel, as no doubt they will be changed again. In compiling a list of such novels, I had to leave out a whole pile of books that certainly deserve inclusion - one could create a long list solely of novels that changed the way we interact with regards to war, or to technology, or to any number of individual subjects. Here, I've tried to prevent any two entries that are too similar to each other€and I have failed. But no matter: think of this as Part One in a series of incredible novels with felt historical impact. Not all of these books set out to change the world. Some are the sources of phrases we use every day, some make predictions about technological advances that are so accurate you'd think microprocessors and Skype were invented because of them. Some actually had the opposite effect of what the author had initially intended. Some were met with disdain upon their release - but all are important to read today, because they all present a challenge to the thinking world. In chronological order, here are ten great novels that forever changed the way the world thinks.
