Harry Potter: 10 Plot Points That No One Will Ever Agree On

Was Snape really a good guy?

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS €“ PART 2Harry Potter has been an incredible phenomenon. The series has prompted children (and adults!) to start reading again, and the seven books have spawned eight movies, endless merchandising, and a theme park. Everybody knows at least something about J. K. Rowling's creation. Harry and best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are characters that anyone can root for. The books are just too easy to fall into and be hooked. In my case, I was a 10-year old book snob who declared that I was not going to read a book just because everybody else was reading it. Then I got Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for Christmas, and I was finished with it by December 26. I had Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban finished by New Year's...and then the waiting began. Now, any immensely popular series with years between installments is going to prompt discussion and dissection. As a result, thousands of theories about the plots and characters arose with every release of a new book. I didn't find out about any of these theories until I was much older, but there were more than enough when I did. Even now, years after the publication of the final book and after the release of the final film, there are plenty of aspects of the Harry Potter universe that nobody can absolutely agree upon. Here are ten of them. Note: I'll only be discussing and devil's advocating the books here, and there are plenty of spoilers ahead.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
