10 Actors Who Thought They Were Playing Other Comic Book Villains

Who He Was Supposed To Play: It’s hard to argue that it’s the stuntman's fault that he got this one wrong. Evidently, no one told the wrestler-turned-actor that Bane is actually somewhat of a mastermind. Despite being famous for breaking Batman’s back, many forget that he also orchestrated a months-long onslaught on Gotham City from the shadows, weakened Batman beyond all measure, and then broke into the Batcave, whose location he had deduced, to do the deed. That's the Bane fans were no doubt hoping for.

Who He Really Played: Considering most of his dialogue was him yelling his own name, Swenson actually far better resembled another recurring Batman foe: Solomon Grundy. The walking brute is basically the exact character that Swenson played, a walking goliath who destroys things without much of a mind of his own.

And honestly, considering how ridiculous Batman And Robin was, would including a zombie as a henchman really have been that out of place? If they had, Swenson’s performance might have gone down as one of the most faithful adaptations ever, instead of a misguided take on a comics legend.
