10 Awesome Things You Didn't Know About DC Comics

Does it bother anyone else that the C in DC Comics stands for Comics?

Founded in 1934 (as National Allied Publications) by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, the company soon to be known as DC Comics released its debut publication with the tabloid-sized New Fun: The Big Comic Magazine #1 in February 1935. Since that time DC has become one of the largest and most successful companies operating in American comic books. They, of course, are responsible for many iconic superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow and many more. They have also given us a fair share of classic antagonists such as the Joker, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, Darkseid, Black Manta, Deathstroke, Sinestro, and Professor Zoom. Although they have been around for nearly a century, DC Comics have become incredibly popular over the last decade or so. While the comic books and paraphernalia businesses are booming, DC has also been enriched by a stable of upcoming movie franchises, including Suicide Squad, Shazam and Justice League. Needless to say, DC is a cultural behemoth. And there€™s a lot of history in the long and storied life of the little comic book company that eventually made it big. Here are some parts of the story you might not already know. This is ten things you (probably) didn€™t know about DC Comics. Click €œnext€ and let€™s get started.
