10 Best Creative Runs In Comics Since 2000

Which writer and artist team-ups define comics in the new millennium?

Comic books are an extremely collaborative medium, with each and every story published featuring the coming together of the disparate talents of writers, pencillers, colourists, inkers, letterers and editors, to name but a few. The comics that we read each and every month would not have been possible without this process of co-operation and teamwork. Over the years, as comics have evolved to the complex and literary tales we read today, the focus has increasingly been placed on the creative talents behind the scenes. Every fan nowadays is likely to have a favourite group of creators. Some will focus on the writers, feeling that they will gladly read a story even if the artwork isn't to their taste as long as it was written by one of their top scribes. Similarly, a different group of fans will be drawn to certain artists and will happily put down their cold hard cash for comics with beautiful and innovative illustrations. Sometimes we fans will even follow certain creators over their whole careers, no matter what the project is that they are working on. There is truly a magical alchemy that takes place between a comic book writer and art team whenever they are on-song and have found their professional groove, so to speak. In the past, we have had such amazing partnerships as Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon on Preacher in the 1990's and Chris Claremont and John Byrne on Uncanny X-Men in the 1970's. But what are the creative teams that have defined the comics world of the new millennium? What are the collaborations that will stand the test of time and go down in history as stand-out classics? This is the 10 best creative runs in comics since the year 2000.
