San Diego became a mecca for pop culture aficionados over the weekend as Comic-Con came to town, brandishing a smorgasbord of trailers and star-studded panels.

True to form, some of the biggest studios and networks, including Marvel, DC, Netflix, HBO and AMC, took to the stage to showcase their latest projects to the costumed masses on the ground, as well as billions of fans around the world via online video.

A-listers such as Will Smith, Cate Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth, Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Seth MacFarlane were on hand at this year's expo, along with cast members from Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and The Walking Dead.

So as aways, Comic-Con was kind of a big deal for anyone with so much as a passing interest in the entrainment spectrum, and this year's revelations did not disappoint.

Marvel and DC duked it out once again, with the latest Justice League trailer locking horns with Thor: Ragnarok footage, and both studios teased new projects.

But these two comic book titans were were only part of a jam-packed convention which spans every corner of the pop culture spectrum.

The buzz surrounding Marvel's Ant-Man & The Wasp got louder at Comic-Con following the announcement that Michelle Pfeiffer has signed up for the sequel.

She's no stranger to comic book movies, having nailed the role of Catwoman in 1992's Batman Returns, and this time she'll be playing Janet Van Dyne.

This was a huge revelation for Ant-Man & The Wasp since it confirms that we're getting two Wasps for the price of one and hints that Janet will be liberated from the Quantum Realm, the metaphysical dimension she got lost in long ago.

Janet Van Dyne is the original Wasp, Hope Van Dyne's mother and Hank Pym's wife. She was also a founder member of The Avengers in the original comics.

Laurence Fishburne has also joined Ant-Man & The Wasp, adding further string to its tail as Bill Foster, a scientist who works alongside Hank and later turns to heroism with the help of his colleague's size-changing technology.
