2. Bill Finger - Unknown Batman Creator

Or for admitting what people are responsible for, for that matter. Take a look at any piece of Batman media, be it a comic, one of the Arkham games, even the Christopher Nolan films: in every single case, the Dark Knight is credited as being the sole creation of artist Bob Kane. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.

And DC knows it. In fact, the amount of the classic elements of Batman's character Kane created is pretty miniscule, as Bat artist Ty Templeton chronicled in a hilarious comic. It was writer Bill Finger who came up with all of the character's early stories, who created The Joker and Robin, who invented the Bat Cave, the Batmobile...everything. The reason Kane gets all the credit? He basically strong-armed DC into it - screwing over Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in the process - and the contract still stands.

So Kane didn't create DC, and everybody knows it, but DC are still locked into claiming he did. The story has seen a resurgence in recent years as fans and Finger's family alike battle to get him the credit he deserved. In the end Finger died penniless and practically unknown, whilst Kane died the creator of Batman.
