9. Firing/Rehiring Everyone

Particularly egregious though their case is, J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman aren't the only members of DC's creative staff who've been shafted over the past few years. In fact, since 2009 there are nearly forty examples of writers, artists and the like being fired from books, leaving due to behind-the-scenes issues, or having their series cancelled without warning. It started with writer Nick Spencer being fired before his first issue of Supergirl came out (he was credited as "co-writer" with James Peaty, who took over), and went downhill from there.

Now, shuffling of creative teams is no new thing, especially in a freelance industry like comic books. But the sheer number of them amongst DC in recent times has been staggering, and the circumstances even more so. Iconic writer/artist George Perez left due to editorial interference, iZombie scribe Chris Robertson departed due to the company being "unethical", Gail Simone was fired and then re-hired on Batwoman when fans kicked off, and Superman Family Adventures creators Art Baltazar and Franco found out their book was cancelled when they saw in solicits that said issue 12 was the finale.

Spencer would later describe the way DC treats freelancers as "abhorrent", and that's hard to argue with.
