10 Characters Who Have Defeated Bane

One of the major aspects of Bane's backstory is that his father was a criminal who escaped from prison, and so Bane, his young son, is forced to live out his childhood in prison to serve out his old man's sentence.

Many of Bane's stories concern him either trying to find out who his father is, or hunting down a prospective clue to his whereabouts. The primary culprits are likely a revolutionary, an American doctor, a Swiss banker or a British mercenary. In one storyline he even teams up with Batman under the impression that Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas, had an affair with Bane's mother.

Turns out, though, that his real father is villain and master martial artist King Snake. Bane goes to confront his father alongside Batmanm and together they stop the man from seizing control of the terrorist organization, Kobra Cult.

When King Snake tries to shoot Batman, Bane sacrifices himself to save Bats, and in return Batman heals Bane in a Lazarus Pit before sending him away with a "clean slate".

Oh, and King Snake gets knocked down a deep crevice and is presumed dead, of course. But he gets the victory for shooting Bane on this one.
