Anything that promises more content from the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender is okay in our books, and The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars picks up almost immediately where we left the Nickelodeon series in 2014.

Only the first part of the graphic novel trilogy was released in 2017, but that was enough to provide the Spirit World fix many had been craving since the series conclusion, advancing Korra’s story as the Avatar—and the second openly bisexual one to date (that we know of, after Avatar Kyoshi).

As well as dealing with the aftermath of Kuvira’s attack on Republic City and the newly opened Spirit Portal centred in the capital as of Book Four's ending, Korra’s path of discovery of her own sexuality provides a steady motif behind the first instalment in this series.

The Legend of Korra’s transition from screen to page is made simple by Michael Dante DiMartino—co-creator of both The Last Airbender and its series successor - serving as writer for the new comic trilogy. South Korean artist Irene Koh also makes the jump a seamless one with illustrations that could be cut from scenes from the show itself.
