10 Comics You Should Re-Read As An Adult

9. Daredevil Born Again

Watchmen comics
Marvel Comics

Another really good story that only gets better when you re-read it as an adult (a rarity among Frank Miller's library, it must be said).

Daredevil Born Again is rightly considered to be the definitive Daredevil story, encapsulating everything that makes the character compelling. Unless you read it in your mid teens - and can quote catholic scripture at a moment's notice - a lot of the subtext likely went over your head.

If you're not looking for the hidden meanings, then Born Again still holds up as a solid superhero/noir storyline about a man having his life torn apart by forces he can't control. But like all great stories, the closer you look, the better the story gets, as the Christian imagery very purposefully placed throughout the book reveals a story of forgiveness, martyrdom, and perseverance in the face of the overwhelming.

Frankly, you should go back and re-read Born Again purely to enjoy it a second time, but what's underneath the action and superhero drama is something that will stick with you for a long time.
