10 Horror Comics That Prove Not Even Reading Is Safe

9. Drums

Of the horror comic world, Drums is a beautiful needle in a haystack of cliché content. Its plot – a witchcraft/voodoo rehash that has been the topic of an ungodly amount of films and books – manages to breathe fresh life into an otherwise overused concept.

In a sense, making this usually predictable storyline something entirely different makes it all the more scary, because everything you thought you knew would happen suddenly turns out to be wrong. In mundane situations like forgetting your keys, this can be a little unnerving. In an intense horror comic set out to surprise you? It’s so, so much worse.

Classic horror will never go out of style, and in that same way neither can the plot and tone of Drums. Intensely written, beautifully drawn, and fiendishly spooky, the comic is a solid reminder of what makes the cornerstone of any good horror franchise.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
