5. Invincible vs. Conquest
The Invincible vs. Conquest battle in Robert Kirkman's Invincible series was the quintessential comic book bloodbath. Conquest is sent to Earth by the evil Viltrumite army to conquer the planet where he then offers the hero an ultimatum: either Invincible conquers Earth or Conquest would kill him and take over himself.
Invincible instead chooses to fight and gets brutally beaten by the villain. While this battle is waging, Invincible's girlfriend Eve awakens from a coma and joins the scene to help her boyfriend. She is apparently killed when Conquest punches her through the stomach. But the battle continued.
With Eve dead in his arms, Invincible vows to kill Conquest once and for all. He delivers a punch that tears off the villain's robotic arm and then uses his teeth to bit off a chunk of his shoulder. That's when Eve revives herself and using her powers, rips the flesh off Conquests body. Invincible delivers the final, bloody blow by repeatedly bashing Conquest in the head.
The final image of Invincible kneeling over Conquests pulverised body is filled with so much red, it makes Carries night at the prom look like good clean fun.
