10 Lessons DC Needs To Learn From Batman V Superman

9. Limit Zack Snyder's Influence

DC UNIVERSE FUTURE
Warner Bros. Pictures

In the absence of a visionary producer like Kevin Feige manning the ship at DC, Zack Snyder somehow fell into a similar sort power position. His ideas have been guiding the DCEU but two movies in and his vision is not working. Mercifully, it appears that DC is already on the way to dealing with this.

DC Films was just started at Warner Bros, being headed up by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, effectively taking over this chief producer role from Snyder. Likewise, Ben Affleck’s increased involvement behind the scenes for Justice League may be a similar move to limit Snyder’s power on the next DC outing to be filmed.

This is all great, but DC needs to seriously consider what they’re going to do if Justice League is anything like Batman v Superman.

Thanks to the timing of production, actually removing Snyder from the director’s chair wouldn’t be feasible, but they need to continue to find ways to mute him, and take their properties in new directions. Whether that's setting someone else up to helm Part 2 or simply making one of the new producers more hands-on, DC needs to keep a close eye on their former golden boy.

They've done well so far in this regard, but it still remains to be seen how much they can rein Snyder in.
