10 Massively Underrated DC Villains

There are more DC villains than just Joker and Lex Luthor.

A good hero is defined by their villains and the characters of the DC Universe are no different. Heroes like Superman and Batman are made great by villains like Lex Luthor and the Joker and their fights make for some of DC's best stories.

With decades and decades worth of comics, DC has a lot of villains though. While some have deservedly been forgotten (looking at you Ten-Eyed Man), there are plenty of lesser known bad guys who have the potential to be used a lot more than they currently are.

These villains have interesting powers and backstories and in a lot of cases plenty of fans, but they'll always end up pushed aside in favour of the more popular bad guys, especially when it comes to the movies.

Sure they might not be as recognisable as the likes of Darkseid and Deathstroke, but they still deserve a lot more attention than they're currently getting. And with the DC Cinematic and Television Universes bringing more exposure to minor characters, now is the perfect time to highlight them.

10. The Wrath

Part of what makes Batman so interesting is his pathological dedication to fighting crime. While villains like the Joker and Ra's al Ghul have acted as a warped mirror to the Dark Knight, no other character has embraced the concept of being the "anti-Batman" as much as the Wrath.

The original Wrath was an unnamed man whose origin story was the opposite of Bruce Wayne's. After his parents were shot to death by a young police officer who mistook them for burglars, he swore revenge on all of law-enforcement and spent his life training to be a master assassin.

Much like Batman, he then took up a masked identity and dedicated himself to "punishing" police officers as the Wrath. He came into conflict with Batman when he tried to kill the man who shot his parents, Commissioner James Gordon.

What makes the Wrath so formidable is that he's not just a physical and mental match for Batman, but is also as equally dedicated to his cause as the Dark Knight. Before his death, Wrath managed to work out Bruce's identity, hospitalise Alfred and kidnap Doctor Leslie Thompson.

Wrath fell from a rooftop and died in his final battle with Batman, but his legacy lived on. He had brainwashed and trained a young man called Elliot Caldwell to one day replace him as a twisted take on Robin.
