10 More Comic Book Teams That Need Their Own Movie

Should The Avengers be replaced by The Illuminati?

Superhero movies aren't going away anytime soon. The Marvel and DC cinematic universes alone have grossed billions of, highlighting well-known heroes, and shining the spotlight on other lesser known ones, taking them into the mainstream.

The best thing is, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds if not thousands of superhero - and super villain - teams waiting to make the jump from page to screen.

In an effort to avoid becoming stale, though, movie studios can't continue relying on the same old faces, and are going to need to start looking deeper in their respective vaults. It's a risk, but a potentially lucrative one. 10 years ago, when the MCU began, no one could've guessed that a talking, machine gun-wielding raccoon would become a household name, but here we are.

The fictional universes are becoming ever more populated, providing the perfect opportunity for multiple characters to join up and kick arse together, and these are some of the more esoteric and dynamic teams that deserve an opportunity to destroy the box office.

10. The Future Foundation

There have so far been three adaptations of the Fantastic Four on the big screen, and response to them has been... not good.

At this point, we're all familiar with the origins of the team. No one wants to see Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben travel to space again, get exposed to cosmic rays again, and then go through the process of coming to terms with their powers again.

Instead, whoever holds the rights to the FF should take a cue from the writers of Captain America: Civil War and introduce Marvel's First Family has having already existing in the MCU, like they did with Spider-Man. It presents a narrative issue - where were the FF when x happened? - but it's nothing that can't be solved, and the same approach did Spider-Man wonders. Thank the lord we never had to suffer another lecture on morality from Uncle Ben!

The Future Foundation provides a perfect opportunity to get to know the team again alongside a new cast and status quo. The Foundation is essentially a school of scientific discovery and philanthropy located at the FF's New York City headquarters, home to students and teachers alike. Think Hogwarts, except the school is made up of dozens of kids with genius intellects, including four Moloid siblings, a young Wakandan girl, and a humanoid/android dragon. Ant-Man Scott Lang was even a teacher for a while.

At its heart, the FF has always been not just a superhero team, but a family and the Foundation emphasises that.
