10 Most Interesting Marvel Superhero Teams You've Never Heard Of

9. Fantastic Force

The Fantastic Four have never really been a traditional superhero team, but for a little while they had a spin-off team who were.

Fantastic Force was actually created out of a rumour. In the early 1990's, a rumour started spreading around that Fantastic Four was going to be cancelled and replaced by a new book called Fantastic Force. This wasn't true, but Marvel editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco decided to capitalise on all the accidental publicity and created it anyway as a spin-off.

Fantastic Force was lead by a teenage version of Franklin Richards who went by the terribly 90's name of Psi-Lord. The team also included Huntara, Franklin's scythe-wielding aunt from an alternate future (one where underwear had apparently been made obsolete), the beast-like Inhuman Delvor and the Wakandan Vibraxas who, not thinking things through at all, called himself the "Master Of Vibration".

The team was occasionally joined by Black Panther (who also funded them) and She-Hulk, who replaced Huntara when she left. The team only lasted for 18 issues and disbanded when Franklin was de-aged back to a child.

The Fantastic Force name was later reused for a completely unrelated team of superheroes from the future (one of whom was strongly implied to be Wolverine from Old Man Logan).

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
