10 Most Powerful Avengers Ever

8. Red Hulk

Thor Chris Hemsworth
Marvel Comics

When the Red Hulk first appeared in Hulk #1 back in 2008, he appeared to be a new villain on the scene. His true identity remained a mystery, and he went about beating up every major superhero he went up against. This included the Hulk, Thor, and many others.

He even killed the Abomination, but it was eventually revealed that the Red Hulk was none other than General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross, Bruce Banner and the Hulk's greatest (and oldest) enemy. He managed the transformation thanks to AIM and the Intelligencia, but after a little while, he went back to being a good guy and even joined up with the Avengers.

In terms of power, the Red Hulk is stronger than your standard, run-of-the-mill green Hulk, but only at baseline levels. He lacks the ability to increase his strength as he gets angrier like the classic Hulk, which makes his strength better than Banner's Hulk right up to the point you make him angry... and you don't want to make him angry.

Aside from strength, he retains his intellect and persona through the transformation, which is an obvious benefit, but he also emits heat as he gets angry, which ultimately weakens him. Regardless, he gets hot enough to melt sand into glass, which isn't a bad skill when fighting for the Avengers.
