Almost a decade's worth of superheroism and fan-pleasing comic book adaptations have been building up to Avengers: Infinity War, and when it finally hits, the Marvel Cinematic Universe won't be the same as before.

The Mad Titan Thanos is on the warpath and will stop at nothing to get his hands on the Infinity Stones, cosmic gems with the power to reshape the universe once united in the formidable villain's trademark gauntlet.

Standing between him and the chance to restructure reality however he sees fit are the Avengers, their allies and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but there's a good chance even that won't be enough to tackle a threat of this scale.

Marvel has released a few nuggets of information about Infinity War. We know Black Widow will rock a blonde hairdo and Captain America a rugged new look, while Spider-Man will don a pimped-up costume courtesy of Stark Industries.

All of that is just from the movie's first poster, but with set leaks and existing comic book lore to take into account, the fans already have an idea or two about what to expect from the epic cosmic conflict.

That said, some things remain shrouded in mystery and have Marvel enthusaists pining for answers.

10. Where Is The Soul Stone?

Just one of the Infinity Stones remains unaccounted for in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that's the Soul Stone.

The Space Stone is locked up tight in Odin's vault, the Mind Stone is embedded in Vision's forehead and the Collector has the Reality Stone.

Meanwhile, the Nova Corps are looking after the Power Stone - which won't fill anyone with confidence - and the Time Stone is Doctor Strange's Eye of Agamotto amulet. So, where in the known universe is the elusive orange gem?

There are precious few Marvel films left for it to show up in, just Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. It's feasible that it could be in Asgard or Wakanda, more likely the latter as the Norse realm already plays host to one gem.

A number of fans have also asked whether the stone has been right under the audience's nose the whole time, in the possession of Thor's ally Heimdall, pointing to his fiery orange eyes and ability to see see "10 trillion souls" from his post in Asgard as evidence... but, again, surely they wouldn't keep two gems so close together?
