When you think of comic books, you generally think of heroes and villains who can fly, who can lift heavy objects using their super-strength and who can shrug off bullets by virtue of incredible durability. You don't immediately think of the characters who possess the mental equivalent of those physical powers - but comics are absolutely full of such characters. Villains in particular, with their evil schemes and dastardly plans, often possess genius intellects that make real world scientists look like uneducated morons.
