10 Things You Didn't Know About Doctor Strange

10. He's Actually Had His Own Films Before (Sort Of)

Most people now know that a Doctor Strange movie is scheduled for a 2016 release as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. However, the character has starred in feature length productions before. In 1978, an idea was conceived to bring Doctor Strange to the small screen with a television series. Starring Peter Hooten as the titular sorcerer, a 93 minute pilot aired on CBS - the same network that was airing The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk at the time - on September the 6th of that year. It wasn't picked up for a full series - probably because the costumes in the production were more reminiscent of a porn movie from that era. Doctor Strange has also starred in his own animated feature film. In 2007, a DVD was released called Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme. The 95 minute movie was received far better than the live action offering almost thirty years prior.
