6. He Was Based On Mechano From Captain Video

Marvel writer Roy Thomas and Marvel artist John Buscema created Ultron back in the 1960s. They came up with the character because of their shared experience of a very obscure comic book and an ever more obscure character within said comic book. Both men have acknowledged the fact that the idea for the character came from reading Captain Video. One particular issue of the comic - which was published in a six issue series by Fawcett Comics and was based on a previously shown American science fiction television series called Captain Video and His Video Rangers - featured a robotic villain who went by the name of Mechano. It was Mechano's appearance that prompted the pair to create Ultron for Marvel. Ultron has, himself, since gone on to influence the creation of other characters
