Injustice: Gods Among Us was a brilliant story, and game, that put Superman in the shoes of a benevolent dictator. But what could drive such a good boy scout to renounce everything he stood for, what would make him turn his back on truth, justice, and the American way? Put simply, the Joker.

When Mistah J kidnaps Lois Lane, and in doing so Clark's unborn child, it's a race against time to find her. Tracking the Joker, and Harley Quinn, to a stolen sub he comes face to face with his worst fear. Doomsday.

Carrying him into space, Superman is horrified to discover that, after exposure to Scarecrow's fear toxin, it's actually the love of his life he's just suffocated, and not only her but their child as well. And if that isn't enough reason for him to go against his personal beliefs, a nuclear warhead detonates and wipes Metropolis off the face of the planet.

Grief-stricken, and out for revenge, he flies into Gotham Prison, and without so much as a by your leave, punches his hand through the Joker's chest, leaving him deader than Zack Snyder's DC's Extended Universe.

And that look on Batman's face? Priceless.
