Now comes the crazier, more radical changes, jumping leaps away from the traditional red and blue ensemble. Though he may look like just another version of Venom, Poison is completely his own deal - the kind of deal that consists of buying a used laptop and finding it ridden with malicious malware. So you know, he's a bad deal.

Branching off from the time that Peter Parker did a messed up metamorphosis into a huge spider that somehow gave birth to himself (a storyline that was essentially only done to grant him organic web shooters like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man) this reality saw Parker reject the offer and was simply beheaded. Somehow possessing some form of symbiote senses, the symbiote (the black gooey stuff that makes Venom 'Venom') jumped ship from it's host and basically resurrected Spider-Man from the dead.

Anywho, the dark Jesus of Marvel found it’s way to a grieving Mary Jane, stating that it wanted to give her the awesome gift of being super badass like him. Calling himself Poison, he casually says he could just kill her and use her as a kind of monstrous marionette.

Mary Jane tells him straight up that if he did that she’d use her second life to make his a living hell, so he thinks “forget this” and digs up Gwen Stacy’s body instead, as any rational symbiote would do.
