In 1996, Marvel and Paramount Studios made a deal to create a series of licensed comics based on their films. The imprint collapsed pretty quickly, but not before publishing a bonkers crossover between Star Trek and the X-Men.

The plot, involved the X-Men travelling through an inter-dimensional wormhole and teaming up with the cast of the Original Series to stop psychic Gary Mitchel, who has been possessed by the mutant Proteus.

However, before they teamed up, something had to be done to prove the Enterprise crew's credentials. That something was to have the X-Men sneak aboard the Enterprise for no real reason other than so that the next scene could happen.

Spock confronted the intruders and Wolverine immediately lunged at him because he apparently didn't have time to learn any manners during his hundreds of years being alive.

The "fight" didn't even last a page though and Logan was taken down by a bored looking Spock with a single nerve pinch.

The two teams then united to overload Proteus with a combination of phasers and mutant energy powers until it became too much for him to contain and he burned out.

Since Wolverine didn't have a phaser or energy powers, he just stood in the corner and angrily pointed his claws at Proteus. It was a big help.
