Go strange or go home.

Crossovers are a huge part of modern comics. It's not uncommon to see Batman pop into Metropolis or for Spider-Man to swing by the X-Mansion from time to time and it's easy to lose count of how many times all of a company's characters have come together to stop a world ending threat or fight each other.

Less common is the intercompany crossover, an event where characters from completely different franchises meet. However, it has happened. Spider-Man has met Batman, the Justice League and the Avengers have teamed up and there was even an entire line of Amalgam Comics where Marvel and DC characters were merged into new heroes.

Then there are the times when things get weird. Sometimes superheroes will cross over with completely non-comic related franchises like movies, TV shows or even celebrities. As is inevitably the case when you've got two or more completely unrelated characters thrown together, these stories will often go to bizarre lengths to piece together an at least semi-coherent plot.

Other times they're just a transparent attempt to sell a product...

10. The Official Sequel To Django Unchained Featuring Zorro

Over the years, there have been a lot of comics that have tied into films and expanded their universe. However, Django/Zorro is the first to ever serve as an official sequel to the film and was even co-written by Quentin Tarantino along with writer Matt Wagner.

The comic is set a few years after the end of Django Unchained. Django returned to bounty hunting to provide for Broomhilda and found himself hired as a bodyguard for the elderly Diego de la Vega, formerly the masked hero Zorro.

Together, they posed as rich investors for a railway built by the self-proclaimed Archduke of Arizona so that they could infiltrate his compound and free the tribe of Native Americans that he had enslaved to build his railway.

It was a fun story and even featured Django briefly taking up the mantle of Zorro. More importantly though, it also really felt like a sequel to the movie.

Interestingly, there have also been rumours of Sony trying to get the comic adapted into a movie and that Quentin Tarantino would be interested in directing it. Obviously, that should be taken with a fairly sizeable pinch of salt, but it's an exciting prospect nonetheless.
