10 Widely Mocked Comic Book Villains That Get A Bad Press

Often the source of laughs amongst comic book fans but these guys should command your respect.

Comic books are full of weird and wonderful villains, many of whom get a lot of respect from comic book fans thanks to their powers and/or abilities, their rich history of great stories and the formidable and competent ways in which they are consistently written. The Joker, Lex Luthor, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Darkseid (pre-crisis, at least) and Loki for example, while they might not always be successful, are lucky enough to always be presented as a credible threat to the heroes they oppose. However, there are far too many villainous characters who are portrayed in the opposite way, either simply being completely and utterly useless, not doing as well as they should be capable of doing or going up against heroes way above their pay-grade and having that reflect badly on them. This doesn't just include physically weak characters - sometimes it's the very powerful ones who get a raw deal by virtue of their stupidity and/or bad writing. So, focusing on the well-known (they have to be in order for them to be "widely" mocked), this article is going to take a look at some of the characters who regularly get treated badly by writers and, as a result, are often the source of laughs amongst comic book fans.
