15 Essential Batman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies

1. Hush

Why He's Awesome

Otherwise known as Tommy Elliot, Hush - like the very best villains - was created to be the antithesis to Batman. He and Bruce Wayne were childhood friends from similar class backgrounds, only Tommy's family were abusive, driving him to attempt murder. He vowed vengeance against the Waynes when Thomas Wayne saved his mother's life.

Hush is very much the "there but for the grace of God" version of Batman, forced to stay at home to care for his mother or risk losing his inheritance. And on discovering that Bruce Wayne is Batman, he manipulates almost all of Gotham's villains in a grand conspiracy, proving his intelligence and guile, and while he's not super-powered he is cunning, conniving and willing to kill with deep-rooted personal reasons to want Batman dead.

How Likely Is He?

It is surely only a matter of time before a film-maker realises that endlessly making an origin story or a Year One variant is not the only way to tackle a Batman story and gives Hush a go.

It's a hugely iconic story, and though he's appeared nowhere near as much as the so-called A-List Batman villains, he appears regularly on lists of the best of the Rogue's Gallery. That has to count for something, right? 6/10
