Superman 423
DC Comics

"Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?", the last story to feature the "Silver Age Superman," has an unusually long intro based on an earlier story's, but what's easier to miss is the image. The statue is beautiful and appropriate, yet the people around it seem to be ignoring it entirely, indicating that Superman is not only dead and gone, but has been gone long enough to become part of the scenery.

This subtle detail helps set up the story that follows, where a reporter interviews a Lois Lane who's had plenty of time to mourn and then move on.
