Once a fan favourite, X-Man has been missing from any substantial stories since his brief stint on the New Mutants back in 2012. When New Mutants writer Matthew Rosenberg was asked about Nate's whereabouts on Twitter, he joked about him backpacking around Europe, then later said that maybe he could return.

Nate Grey is from a period in the X-Men's history where some of the mutant population were written to be disgustingly powerful and Nate was positioned as being the most powerful of all with the only drawback being the small issue that his powers would eventually kill him.

Later on during Dark Reign, his powers would be greatly reduced by Dark Beast's Omega Machine, which was Marvel's way of nerfing Nate so he'd fit more comfortably into the X-Men stories of the time. (It was hard to push the downtrodden mutant narrative with someone as powerful as Nate kicking about.)

So, with Nate being tweaked to fit into stories better, why hasn't he made his full-time comeback? This one can't be blamed on the Secret Wars event either, as Nate went missing years prior.

Gary has been reading Marvel Comics since he was 6 years old. Rather than retain knowledge on things such as Maths or Science - he chose to become a sponge for most things Marvel. He has a longstanding grudge against Iron Man he has harbored since Civil War(2006).
