5 Reasons Why Comics Are Better Than Ever Right Now

3. There's A Stronger Indie Scene

Indie comics have always been around, and always will be around, but the big two have a nasty habit of soaking up all the advertising space and making it hard for independent stories to find the recognition they deserve if they aren't helmed already a well established creator, like Brian K. Vaughn or Mark Millar.

However, when dedicated comic book shops started becoming a thing, the indie scene became stronger than ever - a trend that only increased with the commercialization of the internet.

Now, as long as you know how to make people aware of your comic, you can get it out to them easier than ever. For proof of this, just look at One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 creator "One", who started his now world famous works as webcomics.

Add onto that companies such as Image, Dark Horse, and IDW who - while nowhere close to the big two in sales - give creators a place to explore different stories and storytelling techniques within this medium, and you have an era of comic history that is very generous to independent creators.
