It’s a great time to be a Batman fan – The Dark Knight Rises is mere days away, an animated version of The Dark Knight Returns is just around the corner and one of the hottest story arcs in recent years is now reaching its fantastic conclusion.
If you’re interested in Batman but you’ve never picked up a comic or graphic novel before, there couldn’t be a better time to do so.
So, here are five reasons you should stop putting it off and start reading Batman RIGHT NOW…
1. The Court of Owls is Coming To An End
DC Comics ‘rebooted’ all of its comics back to issue #1 last September to allow new readers to get in on the ground floor, free from the shackles of continuity.
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo kicked off the Batman reboot with their Court of Owls story arc, which has received nothing but praise over its 11 issue run.
That arc comes to an end this week, to be followed by one-and-done-issue #12 and subsequently, the start of a new story arc from Snyder and Capullo.
Given the duo’s fantastic work with the Court and the fact that a major villain is returning for the new ‘Death of the Family’ arc, there’s no reason to think the new storyline will be anything less than stellar.
You can pick up the first 7 issues of the Court of Owls in trade paperback now though, and you’d be mad to miss it.

Greg Capullo is best known for his work on Spawn; where he drew 60+ issues. Scott Snyder wrote American Vampire with Rafael Albuquerque as the artist.
That being said; these two are a great team. The writing and artwork in Batman are phenominal and I agree that everyone should be reading it.
Correct Postman, my mistake.
Is it bad if I use ComicX to read these comics? I’ve been thinking about getting into the New 52 but I want to make sure my money is actually reaching the writers and artists. Thanks.
I use Comixology, it’s legit.
I don’t know about your point on the reboot working – Court of Owls could’ve easily worked within the old continuity.
And you forgot the best reason to read Batman now – Batman’s amazing!
