When Hugh Jackman announced his final Wolverine film, he went on the stage in Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con and said "I’ve got three words for you guys: Old Man Logan." Naturally, the fans exploded, since Old Man Logan is one of the most celebrated and unique Wolverine comic book stories ever published.

Fast forward a few years and the hotly anticipated movie is coming in March, simply titled Logan, which will be at least partially an adaptation of that story. It was never going to be fully faithful, because the comic arc is bonkers, so it shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise that the trailers suggest an entirely different story to the comics.

There were of course impediments: Marvel sold the film rights for the X-Men to Fox, so characters and locations that appeared in the original story cannot legally even be seen in Logan. But film-makers are nothing if not adaptable.

With a different setting and different characters, it's obviously unclear how close the movie will follow the comic arc, but there are some things we can say for certain won't be happening and some that probably will.
