8 Best Comic Storylines Featuring Spider-Man: Far From Home Villains

8. Elementary, Dear Avengers - Avengers #188

In the comics, there are actually two groups that have gone by the name of the 'Elementals': the first featured in Supernatural Thrillers #8; the second in Avengers #188.

It remains to be seen which incarnation of the group will feature in Far From Home (most likely it'll be an amalgamation of the two), but it's looking increasingly likely at this stage that they will be fabricated by Mysterio himself, Quentin Beck. Beck himself is set to start out the film as an ally and mentor to the web-slinger, but this particular twist looks as though it's been telegraphed pretty obviously.

Still, while we await confirmation as to whether or not the Elementals of Far From Home are genuine villains or a trademark Mysterio illusion, fans would do well to check out Avengers #188, the first appearance of the group in the mainstream Marvel Universe.

Published in 1979, the story sees Earth's Mightiest Heroes fend of the Elements of Doom as they land in the Soviet Union. They're all very real though, and cause a fair amount of damage until Cap and co. triumph by literally burying them.
