It's not a stretch to say that a big reason, if not the biggest reason, that Batman is such a cultural phenomenon is his villains. Not only are they fascinating and compelling characters on their own, but there are so, so many of them. If a Batman show only featured one villain per episode with no repeat appearances, that would still be A LOT of television.

It's of course exciting to think about seeing characters like The Joker, Two-Face and Catwoman as main characters, but a what's equally exciting is how a show like this might reinvent some of Batman's more obscure villains, and along the way, create some new ones as well.

Consider for a moment, Egghead.

Egghead was a wholly original character created for the sixties Batman series, brought to life by the incomparable Vincent Price, and has since become what some might consider an iconic Bat-Antagonist.

Sure, Harley Quinn may have been a better example to prove this point. She also was created for a Batman television show, and is now arguably one of DC's most popular characters.
