Arrow Season 3: 10 Comic Book Stories To Adapt

Which DC Classics should the new season adapt for the small screen?

Fairly early on in it's second season, Arrow made a significant jump in quality, propelling it from the fun and eminently enjoyable show of season one to a rip-roaring adventure show that seemed to please die-hard fans and critics in equal measure. This leap in quality was felt in all aspects of the show: the actors all improved notably, becoming more and more comfortable in their roles; the budget had obviously been increased, lending extremely high production value. The action choreography, which was already one of the highlights of season one, ratcheted up a notch; the show crafted a superb and compelling villain in Manu Bennett's Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke; and the season long story arc was a triumph, culminating in a blockbuster season finale that left fans clamouring for more. One of the best things about Arrow during season two was the inclusion of many aspects of DC Comics' extensive history, elements both famous and obscure. In fact, at many points, Arrow seemed to become 'Green Arrow Presents The DC Universe' and the show's producers used the varying DC characters to great effect. Green Arrow is not a character with a large rogues gallery in comics, so the writer's instead pulled in villains from all over the DC map. We saw the Royal Flush Gang, the Dollmaker and the Clock King, all of whom would usually call Gotham home; and Deathstroke and Brother Blood have long been associated with the Teen Titans. With Ra's al Ghul confirmed as the primary antagonist of season three, Arrow looks to be adding in even more DC Universe mainstays. We will see more of the Suicide Squad (who were used to a small degree in season two), the introduction of Harley Quinn and potential crossovers with The Flash. But what comic book stories could we see being adapted into the Arrow universe in the upcoming season? This article will look at some possibilities, and detail the (sometimes judicious) alterations that would be needed to make them work in the world of the show.
