Avengers: Infinity War - 8 Big Changes It Could Bring To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Farewell To The Old Guard?

Shield your eyes, Cap fans, because you may not like what you're about to read.

Infinity War could be the beginning of the end for Chris Evans's Super Soldier, based on comments the actor has made in the past.

He told The Telegraph that he extended his Marvel Studios contract for an additional film because the fourth Avengers movie is "going to wrap everything up".

This could mean any number of things, from Captain America biting the dust to him handing the shield over to a younger character. Everyone from the Falcon to the Winter Soldier are strong candidates, if the comics are anything to go off.

One also has to wonder what this means for the rest of the original Avengers lineup. The old guard of Steve Rogers, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk and Thor have had a good run, but nothing can last forever.

It bodes ill that Marvel Studios is yet to announce an Iron Man 4, Thor 4 or fourth Captain America movie, while more recent additions to its universe such as Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy have sequels penned in.

That said, we'd be amazed if Mark Ruffalo was denied the chance to star in a Hulk solo movie, and the fans simply wouldn't stand for it if Scar-Jo's Black Widow was retired without making a standalone outing.
