Captain Marvel: 10 Comics You Must Read Before The Film

9. The Kree-Skrull War

Marvel Comics

An event title written and published before galaxy-spanning events became the Marvel and DC behemoths they are today, The Kree-Skrull War sees two alien races battling it out for supremacy, with humanity caught in the middle.

A Kree-being himself, Mar-vell is captured by the Avengers, who are drawn into the ongoing battle between the Kree and the Skrulls - culminating in a sequence in which Vision is attacked and brought down by Kree beings disguised as cows (sadly, this probably won't make it into a movie anytime soon).

With its story taking in shapeshifiting aliens and Ronan the Accuser, it looks to be of great importance to the upcoming movie, and reading it should go some way towards explaining why Carol is apparently going about punching old ladies in the face.
