CM Punk left World Wrestling Entertainment this past January and he hasn't had a pro wrestling match since then. Fans have been wondering what he's going to do with his time. Now we have an answer. He's going to team up with artist Rob Guillory to write Thor Annual #1 from Marvel Comics. The project will be released in February 2015. On Monday, Marvel.com posted a long interview with CM Punk (real name Phil Brooks) about the project. Here are a few snippets of the interview: How they started talking about the project: "I wound up talking to Axel Alonso and it was always kind of like,'Yeah, yeah. Wed love to have you do something! Wed love to have you do something.' And you know, I was always just so busy. I think I just pestered all the right people and the right things kind of popped up. How exactly it came up, I cant really, exactly remember. I cant remember who said, 'Hey. Wanna do Thor?' You know what I mean? That pretty much blew my mind. I have to say, its been a long process." How wrestling prepared him for it: "I think Im more suited for it just because Ive been reading comic books my entire life. Wearing tights in front of thousands of people and kind of, almost play-acting, I think down the road, it might give me some sort of insight depending on what kind of characters Im writing and what the story is, but Im not really sure it prepared me so much for being able to script a comic book. Im definitely prepared to fall flat on my face, I think. If anything, got me used to understanding that failure is part of a process, and the only real failure is if you dont try. Like I could be nervous and bite my fingernails, worried that I think my book is gonna be a piece of crap, but I could be not doing it, and that would be the true failure." He makes a great point about how you can only fail if you don't try. Punk is a well known comic book fan and he has talked about his interest in them for years, so it makes sense that he would go that route. If there's one thing we know about Punk it's that he's a very creative guy and he's likely going to do a good job with this. He's certainly getting his foot in the door the right way by striking a deal with Marvel. Good luck to him.
