Darick Robertson working on The Boys prequel

Details have emerged on a prequel miniseries to be written and drawn by Transmetropolitan artist and The Boys co-creator Darick Robertson

With Garth Ennis' dark and twisted tale of superhero excess, The Boys, coming to a close with issue 72, details have emerged on a prequel miniseries to be written and drawn by Transmetropolitan artist and The Boys co-creator Darick Robertson, A-Train: Here Comes The A-Train. Focusing on A-Train, a Flash analogue, and an important figure in the mythos of the series, it will shed light on the character's early life, and how he came to join The Seven, the series' Justice League counterpart. The series will lead up to A-Train's appearence in The Boys no. 1, which kickstarted the events of the long running series. Speaking in an interview with Bleeding Cool, Robertson talked about the series, which is being written with the blessing of Ennis: "I€™m working on it, but I€™m taking my time with it because I want it to be really good. Anything I bring and contribute to The Boys€™ storyline I want it to be necessary and I want it to be worthy. So, I€™m going to take my time, and make sure it€™s really good. But, you know, Garth€™s given his blessing, and I€™ve got the miniseries mapped out, and I€™m reworking the first script, and hopefully sometime in 2013 you€™ll see it." This isn't the only series that Robertson is working on. He has also teamed up with Grant Morrison (The Filth, Batman Incorporated) to pencil the September launching series Happy. He didn't reveal much about this four issue mini series, adding: "The less you know the better. Its four issues, it€™ll be out in September. It€™s different, and it€™s funny, and it€™s got a twist. If you go into it cold, and with your curiosity peaked you won€™t be disappointed. If you know a lot about it, it won€™t be as much fun so we€™re going to kind of keep it under wraps until it debuts. It€™s called Happy, it€™s a tight story, a scripted story. I€™ll tell you that. I€™m really happy to be working with Grant Morrison."
