Jason Momoa Is Okay With All The Batman V Superman Hate

You can't keep Aquaman down, guys.

Unless you've been holed up in a cave for the past two weeks, you might have heard that Batman v Superman didn't fare all that well with the critics. It's sitting with a rather embarrassing score of 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, which apparently means that it's worse than The Room, the infamous "Citizen Kane of bad movies" (35% if you're wondering).

Whilst the fans were a bit more positive than the critics with regards to Zack Snyder's deeply flawed but probably not terrible film, it's the actors who have rallied to its defence (surprise, surprise); Henry Cavill, Superman himself, said that Batman v Superman was a film made for the fans, a point which his Lois Lane - Amy Adams - echoed. You may have also seen Ben Affleck just staring off into space, looking sad.

Well, now Jason Momoa - Aquaman himself - has weighed in on the overtly negative reaction, and he's... well, relatively laid back about it. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the Game of Thrones actor - who will begin filming on the Justice League movie in just a few days - had this to say:

"Some people liked it, some people didn't, it is what it is. I don't get it, but I don't really listen to what anyone says... You can't win 'em all. And I had a ball. I loved it."

Each to their own, is what Momoa is trying to say, and it's a fair enough analysis of the backlash. He also went on to talk about his overall excitement regarding the shooting of the Justice League film:

"There's been some things here and there, but I'm stoked. There's a lot of support from fans. There's a big beautiful world. There's a lot -a lot -of stuff. I feel really privileged to know that there's a lot of big, beautiful stuff that's going to happen. I'm excited too, for people to see the final product. And now it's our turn - it's Justice League time! I've been waiting for four years that I've known about it that I've had to keep my mouth shut. I'm super pumped to shoot it!"

I'm of the opinion that Batman v Superman wasn't anywhere near as terrible as the critics made out, so I'm intrigued to see how the Justice League pans out - even with Zack Snyder leading the production. Though I didn't like the way that Aquaman was revealed in Batman v Superman (we see him in archive footage approaching a camera underwater, which he stares at for a moment before attacking), I think that Jason Momoa could bring an interesting physicality to the much derided character.

Unless they make him incredibly stoic and brooding, and then that's three uber-serious superheroes in the same superhero fighting squad - kill me!

Justice League: Part One is set for release November 16, 2017
