5. Batman
Bruce Wayne's mission to amass a band of metahumans in preparation for the impending New God invasion began at the end of Batman v Superman.
From what we can see in the Justice League trailers, it will be in full swing when the movie begins, but his efforts to recruit Aquaman won't go so swimmingly at first.
The League is Batman's brainchild and we know he'll have it up and running relatively early in the movie, with Wonder Woman on board and The Flash an eager participant.
What will happen to him in Justice League? Batman will lead a Superman-less Justice League into battle against Steppenwolf and his Parademons, but with the Mother Boxes in the Apokoliptian's possession, this is one war he cannot win.
However, Lois Lane is the key, remember? So when he heeds those words of wisdom from the Flash-shaped apparition and presents her to the evil Man of Steel, that's when things swing in the League's favour.
Batman will eventually emerge on the winning side, battle-scarred but inspired by what the League has achieved collectively.
This awakens an important change in him, and he will no longer be the lone crimefighter we saw in Dawn of Justice, having remembered the importance of teammates.
This will pave the way for the reformation of the Bat Family and lay some groundwork for the previously-announced DCEU films Batgirl, and Nightwing.
