Lex Luthor Is Returning For Justice League: Part One

Excellent, more Eisenberg.

After the news that Justice League's villain is probably going to be Steppenwolf rather than Darkseid (despite the promise of Batman's Knightmare sequence in Batman v Superman), it felt a little like the big ensemble was being left without top billed villains.

Hoever, that might not be quite the case, as Jesse Eisenberg has seemingly let slip that his Lex Luthor will return for the super-team's first mission together.

Talking during an appearance at the MCM London Comic Con, Eisenberg confirmed that he's coming back, though it doesn't sound like he's a main player:

"I'm kind of in wait. They just started filming Justice League, so I'm kind of like waiting for my crack at it. I don't know what I'm allowed to say, because I feel like there's probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who's in it. You know, it's a really talented group of people."

Given that Lex had files on all of the Justice League's new recruits and had previous contact with Steppenwolf and the Mother Boxes seen in the deleted scene we've all seen, it makes sense that he wouldn't just be left rotting in jail. So could we see him used as a sort of Hannibal Lecter figure? A behind bars mastermind angling for his release with information key to Batman and co?

Surely this new hardline Batman wouldn't allow that?

Anyway, it seems inevitable that Luthor's role will continue into future DC movies, so let's just hope Zack Snyder and Eisenberg take some of the criticism into account from Batman v Superman and give him better motivation and make him slightly less dot com lunatic.
