Man Of Steel 2: 8 Comic Book Storylines That Must Be Adapted

Fingers crossed for Brainiac!

DC Comics/Warner Bros.

Warner Bros has an ever-growing roster of upcoming movies, but one of the most important for the future of the DCEU (or whatever you want to call it now) is Man of Steel 2. Following on from Justice League, the Superman sequel will likely offer a course-correction for the Last Son of Krypton after audiences have largely been reluctant to take Henry Cavill’s brooding Superman into their hearts so far.

You’ve probably heard that Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is currently in talks with DC to helm the film. Whether this comes to anything or not, the fact that DC are courting Vaughn makes it clear what they want from Man of Steel 2: a funnier, livelier counterpart to the mostly dour original. This isn't exactly surprising. Since Wonder Woman's optimistic tone was heavily praised, the studio will be looking to replicate that at every turn.

Based on that knowledge, there are several comic book storylines - both iconic and underappreciated - that spring to mind that would fit what seems to be DC’s vision for Man of Steel 2. If adapted, the following eight arcs would either introduce a fan-favourite villain, take Superman down an interesting avenue, or would be just plain fun to see on the big screen.
