Mark Millar has big plans for his Millarworld imprint for 2012. He has five new series (Supercrooks, Jupiter's Children, The Secret Service, Nemesis, and Hit Girl) coming out, featuring a host of artistic talent, including Dave Gibbons, Lenil Farncis Yu, and Frank Quietly. And how does he promote this? By filming a promo that features him shouting at schoolchildren. It certainly got my notice, and I would probaly would have been more open to the New 52 if they released something like this with Dan DiDio. The promo, which debuted on Comic Book Resources, was shot by Spanish film maker Nacho Vigalondo, best known for 2007's Timecrimes, and currently involved with bringing Millar's latest book, Supercrooks, to the big screen. Millar is excited about the coming year and outlined his plans for his creator owned brand: "Myself, Frank Quitely, Dave Gibbons, Steve McNiven, Leinil Yu and John Romita Jr have come together and created this line of books. DC did it in the '40s, Marvel did it in the '60s, Image did it in the '90s and we're doing the same thing here -- the biggest artists in the industry coming together and creating a new wave of comic-book characters you're going to see as comics, TV shows, movies, toys and video-games. Wanted and Kick-Ass have already come out, but now it's full steam ahead as we plough forward with all these new books, the movies being set up at the same time from Matthew Vaughn, Nacho Vigalondo, Joe Carnahan and all the other guys we've been speaking to." Time will tell if Millar pulls off his plan, but it will definitely be a busy year for the Scotsman.
