That's right folks, The Defenders is out next month, and we are suitably hyped.

It may not have the capital of The Avengers, or indeed the funds to match, but it's by no means a lesser TV equivalent. Fans have been waiting for this moment for over two years and, given the nigh-universal acclaim that's greeted each and every Marvel Netflix series (we'll ignore Iron Fist for now), the anticipation is palpable.

Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) are all present for Netflix's latest Marvel marathon, and they're now joined by Sigourney Weaver, who plays the show's main antagonist, Alexandra. Elodie Yung's Elektra is also due to make a comeback, in an event that largely builds upon plot lines established in both Daredevil and Iron Fist.

It has a lot to live up to, considering just how fondly looked upon Marvel's other Netflix series' are. It's also decidedly shorter than past Netflix releases, clocking in at eight episodes as opposed to the usual thirteen.

Despite this shorter series length, it’s still building up a massive television spectacle. Indeed, it’s easy to underestimate Marvel’s street level contingent. And while they may lack the superpowers of their big screen counterparts, time and again, they more than make up for it in character; something that every Defender (not Danny) has in abundance.
