Civil War, if nothing else, is proof that audiences just love to see a grudge match between superheroes. Be it Captain America and Iron Man, or Batman and Superman (which, after the smorgasbord of negative reviews, it is easy to forget was equally as anticipated), we all like to see a bit of a domestic between our favourite do-gooders.

It’s very easy to see, in an MCU whose writer’s room must be currently searching for a means of introducing and establishing their versions of the X-Men, that major crossovers such as 2012’s Avengers vs X-Men event will be considered for adaptation.

However, even entertaining the unlikely possibility that Phase 4 of the MCU will introduce Marvel’s favourite mutants anytime soon, throwing them immediately into a battle with the Avengers doesn’t feel like a particularly good start for newcomers to the X-Men in the MCU.
