8. Morbius The Living Vampire

Somehow, for some reason, we have found ourselves in a reality where Jared Leto gets to have another swing at the comic book movie piƱata after terrorising cast, crew and audiences alike with his rendition of Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad. We don't know quite how this has happened, but still, come 2020, the actor will jump ship to Marvel from DC in order to become the living undead in Sony's Morbius spin-off, centred all around the bloke from the nineties Spider-Man cartoon whose one and only desire was to drain 'plasma' in order to survive.

That's probably a tad facetious, because - in actuality - Morbius is a pretty interesting character. Originally, he's a bio-scientist who ends up becoming a vampiric figure after a failed experiment. This means he isn't actually a proper vampire, but instead a manmade monster, and it's what originally made him a villain in Spider-Man's comics.

Morbius would eventually go on to foster his own feuds as an anti-hero, but it's unclear as to what route Sony will take with Leto in the role. Filming is set to commence February 2019, with Daniel Espinosa in the director's chair. However, if Leto's presence alone isn't enough to convince you that this is likely to be a write-off, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless - the writers behind such hits as Gods of Egypt and Dracula Untold - have penned the script.

Miscast, (likely) miswritten and just flat-out unnecessary, Morbius appears to exemplify everything that's wrong with Sony's Marvel experiment. Don't expect good things come release.
